Our School

North Gower PS

We acknowledge that our learning is taking place on unceded and unsurrendered Algonquin Territory. We thank the Algonquin Nation for hosting us and recognize their enduring presence on this land.

Our School

North Gower Public School was constructed in 1969 to serve the elementary students of the Townships of North Gower and Marlborough. Today it provides schooling to all children, Kindergarten to grade 5, in a regular English program. All English program students who reside in Rideau Township, except for those students in the Manotick Public School attendance area, attend our school. North Gower also has a dedicated French classroom for our Core French Program. In 2012, the second floor of the school experienced an extensive renovation. Classrooms, a computer lab, French room, Literacy Room, General Purpose Room and Library were all newly constructed. As part of the OCDSB, North Gower-Marlborough Public School strives to challenge all students to achieve personal excellence in learning and responsible citizenship within a safe, equitable, inclusive and caring environment.

Our Students

Total enrollment February 2022: 127. The North Gower P.S. attendance area is geographically large and includes all of Rideau Township to the borders of Goulbourn Township, Osgoode Township, the village of Manotick, the town of Kemptville in Leeds/Grenville, and the border of Lanark County. The attendance area includes the village of North Gower, Kars and Burritts Rapids. Most students are bused to school from small villages and rural areas in the Township. Students choosing to enter Early French Immersion attend Kars on the Rideau Public School. Our students leave North Gower P.S. to attend Kars on the Rideau P.S., in the village of Kars, for grades 6, 7, and 8.

Our Staff

Our staff is dedicated to presenting a wide range of experiences to children as they grow and learn at North Gower P.S. A majority of the staff resides within our school area. They are very responsive to our school and community needs. We take pride in the wide range of activities that staff provide for our students promoting their physical, social, emotional and academic development.

Our Community

Our School Council is committed to maintaining an open channel of communication through which parents, students, and community members can exchange views and recommendations regarding specific activities, as well as educational policies and procedures. The Council extends an open invitation to parents and the community to take an active role in the education of our children by participating in Council meetings and school events. The Council works with the school and teaching staff to provide the best possible educational experience and to make learning a shared responsibility between the teaching staff and the community.
